Krav Maga in Boston Krav Maga meaning “Contact/Close Combat” in Hebrew is a no-nonsense reality based self-defense system that is simple to learn and consists of effective techniques that can be recalled easily under the stress and emotion of a real-life violent encounter. Krav Maga recognizes that it is impossible to maintain a state of Zen Calmness in the face of real world aggression and so teaches you to work with your emotional/adrenal state in order to deal with committed and aggressive assailants.

The system is used by the Israeli military (IDF) as the combatives system that is taught to their soldiers and army personnel. Academy of Krav Maga Boston The Academy is based at the Roshankish Martial Arts Center in Medford and has full use of this 8000 sq ft, fully matted, air-conditioned facility (equipped with top quality training/gym equipment). December 2009 - 28th Dennis Survival Champioship Israel

Gershon Ben Keren Fighting At The 28th Dennis Survival Championship Gershon Ben Keren was invited by the Dennis Survival Ju-Jitsu "Family" to compete at their 28th Championship in Herzilya, Israel. This is a nationally televised event and features fighters from the Hisardut system. December 2009 - Chanukah breakfast for Congregation Kehillath Israel

Boston Academy of Krav Maga Program Director, Gershon Ben Keren, will deliver a talk on Krav Maga, its role in the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) and it's importance as an Israeli Martial Art/Self Defense system. This talk precedes the start of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights, that celebrates the Maccabees military victory in capturing the Temple Mount. The Boston Academy of Krav Maga would like to wish everyone a "happy holidays" at this time of year when members of many different faiths are celebrating their various holidays.

December 2009 - Self Defense Seminar For The Hospital Staff At Mass General

Staff at Mass General, contacted the Boston Academy of Krav Maga, so that they may receive effective self-defense and self-protection training - a need for which is becoming evident with the rising numbers of violent assaults that are happening to hospital staff and on hospital premises in the Massachusetts area. Staff will receive training in how to develop personal security habits and situational awareness that will protect them from becoming a victim. They will also learn how to de-escalate potentially violrnt situations and simple physical techniques they can employ should the violence move to the next level.

November 2009 - Gershon Ben Keren delivers a Female Self Protection Lecture To AAE in Massachusetts

Head Instructor of the Boston Academy of Krav Maga delivered a 2.5 lecture/presentation at the annual convention of the AAE in Burlington, Massachusetts. This lecture was delivered at an after-dinner speaking engagement to a female audience who received instruction in security measures and strategies that they can take regarding their own personal safety. October 2009 - FREE Women's Self Defense/Krav Maga Seminar

Women's Self Defense Boston These FREE seminars are offered on a regular basis. In them we work through various scenarios in order to teach women about how sexual assaults, rapes and muggings actually occur. We equip them with the necessary skills to identify and profile sexual predators and create dynamic risk assessments of potentially violent situations. August 2009 - International Travel Security/Protection

Women's Self Defense Boston Newton-Tanzania Collaborative's In Field Project Director, Lisa Walker came to the Roshankish Martial Arts Center for instruction in self-protection, whilst travelling internationally in developing countries. Rather than simply teaching self-defense techniques, Boston based self-defense instructor, Gershon Ben Keren designed the training sessions to include entry and exit strategies into and out of countries, travel security, techniques for securing hotel/hostel rooms along with the use of CS Spray and simple self-defense techniques. Lisa will be spending a year in Tanzania teaching English at the Kwala Secondary School Mahundi Primary School, and will work on NTC projects with NTC Tanzania Advisor Athuman Msangi. Much of the self-defense and self-protection training that Lisa received is included in our women's self-defense courses. July 2009 - Boston Gesher, "A Taste Of Israel"

Krav Maga in Boston Boston Academy of Krav Maga Instructor, Gershon Ben Keren was invited by the Jewish Gesher organization to demonstrate Krav Maga at their "Israel's Living Canvas" event. Boston Gesher, a Jewish organization, were loking for an authentic display of he Israeli Martial Art of Krav Maga along with an explanation/talk of how it fits into Israeli Military training. I can honestly say that I've never had a higher standard of instruction in my life. That includes anywhere in the military including instructors from special forces. There aren’t many people you come across in your life who you can genuinely call a teacher and you are one of them. Not just technical skill or even experience in the street, as many people have that but a deep understanding of why things work and more importantly why things don't.

I've learned some valuable and practical principles of self defense, and my cardio and flexibility have greatly improved. A further bonus is th at my weight has dropped by almost 30 lbs during those six months – about one lb per week – back to what it was in college.
